From my sixties spy girl book, Film Fatales, the still gorgeous BarBara Luna (at right) celebrates the start of the new year with Deborah Gibson at Hugh Hefner’s New Year’s Eve bash at the Playboy Mansion. Check out Luna’s web site for updates on her convention appearances. I have met her a number of times, even saw her cabaret act here in NYC. She is an extremely talented and wonderful lady!
Happy New Year!
Hope everyone had a super holiday! I ended 2005 having lunch with former sixties starlet Gail Gerber high up at the Cloisters in upper Manhattan. It was a dreary day, weather-wise, but Gail kept me highly entertained. Gail was spending her New Year’s Eve with pals Rip Torn and Lee Grant. Who would of thunck that the star of Beach Ball and Village of the Giants would have such esteemed friends? Groovy man!

For a wonderful holiday treat, you must visit Francine York’s web site. Still gorgeous, Francine wishes you a Merry Christmas in an outrageous, endearing style only a true ’60s starlet can muster. Watch her one-woman video featurette and you’ll laugh, cry, and gape in amazement. Francine is truly one of a kind and a very sweet lady to boot! I love her! Happy Holidays!
I thought as I interview the starlets for my new book, I’d update the fans on what they are doing now. First up is Jane Wald. Never a leading lady, Jane‘s most memorable roles were the beatnik friend of Paul Newman‘s in What a Way to Go starring Shirley MacLaine and the bikini-clad wife of artist Charles Robinson in the comedy Dear Brigitte (1965) starring James Stewart. [In the film’s poster art from Heritage Movie Posters Jane Wald is pictured at left.]
Today, Jane , a voting member of the Academy Awards, resides in Los Angeles and spends most of her time traveling the world. She still maintains contact with her show business friends including Deanna Lund, BarBara Luna, and Hope Holiday.
