MAGICAL TINA

In 1986  Hal Linden starred as a magician in the short-lived mystery series Blacke’s Magic. Below is part 1 of the episode “Death Goes to the Movies” featuring Tina Louise playing a TV actress typecast as the sexpot (art imitating life?) who desperately thinks her current film project is her last shot for movie stardom. The producer refuses to cut her nude seduction scene and when he turns up dead, she is one of the prime suspects.

Tina once again proves she was one of Hollywood’s most underrated actresses and there was more to her than just Ginger Grant. Kudos to her for going after varied roles over the years the minute Gilligan’s Island ended unlike Dawn Wells who is still doing the series–almost 45 years later!

WAH WAH WAH

Cinema Retro magazine has put out some wonderful special editions but has outdone itself on its latest dedicated to director Sergio Leone’s trilogy of Spaghetti westerns starring Clint Eastwood as the man with no name. It takes a behind-the-scenes look at the making of A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly with many photos never before published. It is a must for fans!

I remember seeing A Fistful of Dollars at the drive-in when I was about 6 years old and to this day sitting in the front seat between my parents watching the slaughter of the white family who come out of their house guns blazing near the end remains with me to this day. I remember thinking this ain’t no Mary Popppins.  Up to that point, it was the most violent movie I had ever seen.
