One of my favorite shows as a kid was the lightweight spy adventure It Takes a Thief starring Robert Wagner. I saw the show in reruns during the mid-Seventies. Wagner is extremely handsome as master thief Al Mundy who is paroled and goes to work for the SIA (Secret Intelligence Agency). Each week his mission dictated by Noah Bain (Malachi Throne) is to steal something for the government. Far-fetched yes but oh so entertaining.

The show is also a who’s who of Sixties starlets. Click here to watch an episode with Francine York (who had a recurring role during the first half of the first season as Mundy’s parole officer) and guest star Tina Louise as well as other first season episodes.

WHAT WOULD GILLIGAN SAY!?!

Probably “Don’t bogart that joint.” Dawn “Maryann” Wells was arrested for marijuana possession just as her late Gilligan’s Island co-star Bob Denver was charged a few years before he passed away. Now it all makes sense why Maryann’s pies were the hit of the island. Dawn claims the pot found in her car was a friend’s and her erratic driving was because she was trying to get the heater to work. Hmmmmmmmmmm.

I guess Tina Louise now has the last laugh after being put down by Dawn time after time. Click here for further details and to glimpse Dawn Well’s mug shot from the big doll house.

ANOTHER SHAMELESS PLUG

If you don’t promote yourself nobody else will not even your publisher these days. Click here to read an interview with me in Femme Fatales magazine about my new book, Glamour Girls of Sixties Hollywood.

ROCKIN’ RAQUEL

In my new book Glamour Girls of Sixties Hollywood, most of the actresses profiled aspired to be like Raquel Welch. And of the ones I interviewed, respected and admired Raquel’s professionalism and deteremination to be a star even if they did not like her personally. But there are some 60s starlets (such as Diane Baker) who have sour grapes and put down Raquel even do this day despite the fact that she reached super stardom and has proven herself in film, TV, and on stage.

Though I love Raquel I have to admit she starred in some really crappy movies none more so than Myra Breckinridge (1970) where we are supposed to believe mousy Rex Reed has a sex change and morphs into Raquel! Click here to read Raquel’s recent comments about this camp stinker.
