JUST A REMINDER!

Former starlet Gail Gerber will be the special guest at the Darinka Prose & Poetry Reunion this Tuesday May 5th, 7:30PM at Dixon Place in New York City’s East Village. She will be reading passages about meeting writer Terry Southern on the set of The Loved One and about why Rip Torn did not make it into Easy Rider from her upcoming memoir Trippin’ with Terry Southern: What I Think I Remember.

GRIND THIS!

Sexploitation movies of the 60s and 70s are not my cup of tea (too many bare boobs for me), but check out this great web site Alternate Cinema.com. It is really cool and if you are into these grind house “classics” they are available for purchase on DVD.

DOMINO DANCING

One of my favorite web sites is Starlet Showcase. No surprise there! Click here to see a tribute to Claudine Auger, one of the most beautiful ’60s Bond Girls in Thunderball (1965).

LOLITA SINGS!

My friend Shaun brought to my attention that 60s starlet Sue Lyon who played the underage sexy tease Lolita in 1962 recorded a single that was released. The A-side was the novelty song “Lolita Ya-Ya” the diddy she sang in the movie. However, the B-side “Turn on the Moon” is a surprisingly catchy song where Lyon shows off a pretty good, albeit studio-enhanced, voice. Lyon never sang again and spent the rest of the decade competing with lookalike blondes, Tuesday Weld and Carol Lynley, for the same roles. See below to hear for yourself.
