CATWOMAN’S MEOW

A few Blogs ago, I posted a link to a New York Times story about The Hollywood Collectors Show. Through the grapevine I heard that some of the celebrities were unhappy with the story because some of it focused on the money they made from selling their autographs. I disagree and as someone who has attended and participatd in these autograph conventions felt it was very insightful and respectful unlike other pieces that have been written over the years.

Clever story… but you missed the real story, NY Times. It’s about what the public gives back to us in love and appreciation for our flesh and blood interpretations of their fantasies.

GO APE!
Today, Friday October 30, the Fox Movie Channel (USA) will show back-to-back Planet of the Apes films beginning at 6:00 AM and continuing into tommorow.

Not only will all five original Ape feature films be shown, but Fox will also telecast the films edited from episodes of the short-lived 1970s Ape TV series starring Roddy McDowall, James Naughton, and Ron Harper. These are definitely worth watching. I like the series better than the 3 later Apes movies especially to see a young Naughton (pictured at left) in his butt-hugging pants running through the countryside and grappling with those gorillas! Sorry, I digress. There will also be several telecasts of the Fox Legacy episode that tells the history of the franchise.

ON THE RADIO

This Monday Nov. 2 at 10:00pm EST, Gail Gerber and I will be a guest on the Internet radio show TV Confidential talking about her memoir Trippin’ with Terry Southern. In case you can’t listen in live, it will be available online afterward.

I’VE BEEN SLIMED

Click here to read about the upcoming rare screening in Los Angeles on Sunday Nov. 8 of the cult sci-fi movie, The Green Slime (1969). I have never seen it but based on the poster alone and stills of the lovely Luciana Paluzzi with her ’60s mod hair style and futuristic costumes it is now on my must see list.
