ROBERT ALTMAN

Legendary director Robert Altman passed away this week. Check out this wonderfully written tribute by my friend Shaun Chang.

Altman began as a TV director and one of his early assignments was to direct an episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents entitled “The Young One” starring Carol Lynley as a sweet and not-so sweet teen with an overly protective auntie whom she lives with. When the old lady prohibits Lynley from seeing teenage biker Vince Edwards she turns up dead. All fingers point to Edwards but turns out that Lynley killed her and framed him.

GREGORY HARRISON

To my surprise and delight I received emails from one of my fav actors Gregory Harrison the former star of TV’s Trapper John, M.D. and that classic TV-movie For Ladies Only. He is a real nice guy and remembered that I wrote to him sometime ago requesting an interview for my surf movie book at the time it was going to cover movies up to the present. Scroll down to very bottom on right and click the post titled “No more morning afters…” to read his comments. You can also check out his web site.

STARLETS WE HATE

Sixties actress Diane Baker’s trolls are at it again. They have written a profile about her on Wikepedia making her out to be some sort of great thespian–we know otherwise. Talk about fiction–they describe her as having “a stylish, elegant, intelligent aura.” I describe her as sleep-inducing zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
