THREE, TWO, ONE!

Who ever thought that our beloved sixties starlet Pamela Tiffin would be mentioned in an article in the conservative National Journal? But there she is (along with co-stars the great James Cagney and gorgeous Horst Buchholz) in a tribute piece to one of my favorite comedies of all time, Billy Wilder’s One, Two, Three (1961) a satire on the Cold War set in West Berlin just before travel between the eastern and western parts of the city was forbidden.

When our man from Coca-Cola Cagney has to chaperone the boss’ visiting scatterbrained Southern-fried daughter Tiffin who sneaks into East Berlin and marries Communist Buchholz, Cagney famously declares, “I’d rather be in hell with my back broken” as he attempts to turn Buckholtz into a capitailist approved son-in-law.

MAKE ROOM FOR SHERRY

Sultry siren Sherry Jackson was a very busy child actress ala Natalie Wood but switched to TV where she found fame playing Danny Thomas’ eldest daughter on Make Room for Daddy. She left the series in the early ’60s and starred in a number of drive-in movies through 1980 including Wild on the Beach, Gunn, The Mini-Skirt Mob, Bare Knuckles and Stingray while racking up numerous TV guest star stints on such classic programs as Batman, Star Trek, Lost in Space, The Wild Wild West, etc. and even found time to disrobe for Playboy.

Here’s Sherry then on Star Trek, and click here for Sherry now.

CALIFORNIA DREAMING

You lucky Los Angelenos, if James Bond is not your thing run to the Aero Theater in Santa Monica tonight for a triple feature that is a wet dream come true for me: Earthquake, The Towering Inferno and The Poseidon Adventure. Remember there’s got to be a morning after.

SHAKEN, NOT STIRRED

For all you lucky Los Angelenos, the USC School of Cinematic Arts is paying tribute to James Bond movie producer Albert “Cubby” Broccoli this weekend with screenings of the Bond films, panel discussions and exhibits. Read more here.
