DV-R ALERT!

Not much happening this upcoming week. Catch Edy Williams as a delectable “Bon-Bon” in The Naked Kiss on 3/23 (TCM 2:30pm) and the next day same channel hellraising Michele Carey (pictured) shoots a hail of bullets at the Duke in El Dorado (4pm).

You can read more about both glamour girls in my upcoming book Pin-ups and Playmates in Sixties Hollywood.

GAIL GERBER UPDATE

That is me in the center between my friend Matt and former Sixties Starlet Gail Gerber, star of The Girls on the Beach and Beach Ball, at brunch this past Sunday up in Fort Tryon Park in New York City’s Hudson Heights area. I am co-authoring with Gail a new book tentatively entitled Strange Love: Terry Southern’s Uneasy Ride in Hollywood. Gail was Southern’s longtime companion for over 30 years and has interesting stories about the man who wrote the screenplays for Dr. Strangelove, Barbarella, and Easy Rider, amongst others.

WICKED, WICKED

In 1973, MGM released a strange little film called Wicked, Wicked about a psychopath stalking the female guests at a hotel. It was a precursor to the Halloween and Friday the 13th movies that were to come but it was filmed in a split screen process called Duo-Vision. One side tracked the killer and the other his victims or Detective David Bailey trying to catch him. The movie also starred Fantasy Femme Diane McBain, Tiffany Bolling, and Edd Byrnes. It was directed by the guy who directed numerous Green Acres episodes. Check out the trailer on YouTube. It looks just awful!
